Raquel Martinez MSc, OTR, OTD received her Master’s in Occupational Therapy at Columbia University and her Doctoral degree at Boston University.
She is a Director at Life Occupational Therapy Limited, a private clinic which treats children of various needs in Trinidad and Tobago. She also provides parent and teacher trainings to help advocate for the emerging field of OT in her country, as well as, for the needs and rights of the differently-abled. Her goal, and the topic of her doctoral research, is to play a part in the universalization of OT services, so that even those who can least afford it, can access treatment. Raquel lectures in the Master of Occupational Therapy programme at the University of the Southern Caribbean, the first and only programme in the region. She is the Secretary of the Trinidad and Tobago Occupational Therapy Association (TTOTA) and the Caribbean delegate to the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT). She enjoys being involved in research and is honoured to be on the editorial board of WORK.
