WORK: Dave Andrews

Dr. Andrews teaches Functional Anatomy and Human Factors at the undergraduate level, and Occupational Biomechanics at the graduate level.

The overarching objective of his main body of research in biomechanics and ergonomics is to prevent injuries.  He does this through designing and testing various methods for estimating peak and cumulative loads on the body during industrial work, and non-work activities, and by quantifying and modeling the musculoskeletal response of the body to impacts, such as those experienced through the upper and lower extremities during running and landing from a fall, respectively, or to the head during sports, such as football.  Dr. Andrews has various research interests related to teaching and learning, including peer observation of teaching, educational leadership, the midcareer faculty experience, development of teaching practices, and assessment and evaluation in higher education.  He works extensively with both undergraduate and graduate students in all of his research efforts to provide opportunities for skill development and career preparation in various disciplines.  With respect to leadership roles, Dr. Andrews is a Past President of the Canadian Society for Biomechanics (CSB), the former Research Leadership Chair and Teaching Leadership Chair for the Faculty of Human Kinetics, and the Head of the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario, Canada.  He is a member of several national and international societies in biomechanics, ergonomics, and teaching and learning, and he serves on the editorial boards for two scientific journals
